A popular event attended by all age groups and skills, you can find some painstakingly sculpted sand-art designs by some very talented people. You’ll find more than just Castles in the Sand at this contest.
With three categories of competitors: Adult Humorous, Adult Miscellaneous,
Children 10 and under and Youth 11-17, there are more than enough talented
sculptors to watch as they toil on their creations. The contest is free and open
to all.
Always take sign photos so you remember where your photos were taken.
This guy was very serious.
It was fun to eat and then return to see all of the changes that took place.
This guy was building his dream house in the mountains.
Not just another sand castle.
This one had stones and stairs and even an archway.
Another approach.
This guy made his tall so that he could stand.
And then sit for the finishing touches of dolphins and fish at the base of his mermaid.
A giant sand lizard.
This guy used only his hand and a shovel.
A bunch of very big guys built this one. They were having a total party, complete with bikini clad girls, a kiddie pool, lots of beer and several shovels and buckets. Their first attempt crumbled and then they came back.
Part of the youth brigade. The words are spelled out in baby carrots.
Another young creative.
Youth group. I love the humor in this one.
These gals were graphic designers who needed another creative outlet.
American Idle was our favorite.
Chair detail.
This guy had teeth and hair and finger nails.
Finishing the feet with just minutes to go.
I love the humor in this one: a father and his kids, literally playing in the sand.
They had a late start - a lesson on how to entertain your kids for 5 hours. His youngest
was the main attraction - a kid in - "Kiddie Pool".
I would love to enter next year. Who would like to join me?
See what other stuff there is to do in Florida.
