St. Louis, MO

Katy Trail

I totally forgot that hanging with Sandra meant riding our bicycles to our destination.
Normally if I were in NYC I would take the train to the destination, do the ride and then take the train or bus back.
We rode to the trail and then after three flat tires (one was a good deed), I had enough and insisted we get on the bus.

This was a pretty section of trailway alongside a lake.
But not the Katy Trail.

The sight of our second flat, mine, on a borrowed bike.

Crossing the Missouri River.

The train station.

St. Charles.
We had a nice lunch and walked around the town. Luckily Sandra bought an extra tube.

Outside one of the many brewery's.

The Katy Trail isn't paved, it's packed dirt and very dusty.

Back we go over to the other side.

The great Missouri.

Nice bridge shadow in the muddy river.

We climbed this winding trail.

While Sandra changed a flat for a stranded woman, I took some photos of the small planes that were landing at a nearby airport.

Off she goes. On a mission now to get me home.

Sandra fits the bikes on the bus.

Me, happy to be off of the bike and getting on public transportation.

Life is an adventure or nothing at all. And our journey to the Katy Trail was certainly that.
Sandra was a very good friend to let get on the bus. In the end we rode 45 hot hilly miles (on a triple mountain bike).
Next time, I will bag the trail and go to the City Museum and other places of interest.

These photos are great, I want to see more STL photos.

Thanks, please take me back to the main page.
