Big Cypress National Preserve

I would see enough alligator sightings to last me an entire year.
Definietly one of my crazier adventures.

Two ducks take a drink out of the hotel pool.

A heron fishes for his breakfast.

An extreme close-up with my new 7.1 mega pixel camera.

Those water rings are fish.

Getting ready, with a splash in the background.

A blue heron looks for breakfast too.

Always take a photo of where you are, especially when out and about in the wild.

Where are we that this vehicle can go?

Here we go.

This gator is not in a zoo, there are no fences.

Looks like he is smiling.

The Cypress Trees.

Gina on the road.
This road is like the parking lot of the north jetty. It's paved, but covered with sand and dirt and rocks and craters.
Gina goes slow and does a great job of navigating.

The road.

These are not birds nests.

Nice photo, eh?

The Cypress Swamp.

This place and its' ferns make me feel like I am in Hawaii.

Time to dismount.
Arent' turkey vultures usually around dead things?
Well, this giant alligator was NOT dead!
When Gina arrived she wanted to know why I stopped.
We waited for a little while contemplating whether to ride ahead, when a man in a truck pulled up and shooed away the gator.
Crazy, but nice man.
The gator was the biggest that I have ever seen, a 15 footer at least, when he flipped himself back into the water.

A close up of those "birds nests".

These birds totally gave us the creeps. We felt like we were in an Alfred Hitcock movie.

Can you spot the deer?

Another swamp photo.

And another tropical plant photo.

A gator swims in the swamp.

Close-up.

A snowy egret.

These birds have a really nice house; except of course for those gators swimming around.

I really like this bird, does anyone know its name?

X marks the spot.

Another butterfly.

A closer look.

Can you spot the gator?

The first orange butterfly was better.

The clouds kind of look painted.

Believe it or not, this is a baby alligator.

These turkey vultures were really spooky.

H.P. Williams Roadside Park

These alligators were on the other side of the fence, but the fence did eventually end.

So, do you think that we are disturbing his nap?

Two is always better than one.

This is really only a face that a mother could love.

Swimming swimming in the swimming... swamp.

Another blow up photo.
Thanks Gina, for pointing them out.

I am happy!

I'm keeping my eye on you.

This photo is not upside down. It's a reflection of birds sitting on a tree.

Another sign to remind us again, NOT to feed the gators. Are people really that stupid? I guess so. Otherwise, they wouldn't have these signs everywhere.

Hey, good-looking.
You've got to love the zoom lens on a 7.1 mega pixel camera.

And the award goes to...

Many thanks to Dad & Janet for my new camera.
For Charlie for first discovering this place.
And to Gina for humoring me and for giving up a day of shopping.

Return to the great outdoors.
