Our last day takes us from Sopchoppy back to Monticello.
The first rest stop will be at the
Wakulla Station Trail Head
of the Tallahassee-St. Marks Historic Railroad State trail.
Bert and Sandy pass time in the rain while waiting for the shuttle.
Because the day started off wet, we had the option to ride to the first rest stop and be shuttled
to the end and thus lunch.
Sandra and I chose to finish the ride. Later, the sun would show itself after the second rest stop.
This little guy was found along the route and adopted by a Mother riding a tandem with her 6-year
old daughter.
The Grandmother rode along beside them too on a single bike.
Wild flowers grow on the side of the road.
Wisteria grows wild and it smelled so good and so fresh in the morning rain.
Azaleas, in many bright colors.
Congratulations you've made it!
Free end of ride lunch for all registered Bike Florida cyclists.
Sandra and I eat our last lunch with the group.
Get a few phone numbers/email addresses and take a
few last photos.
Remember that clean and happy before photo from the century day?
Well, here we are dirty and
happy because we are finished and have just eaten lunch.
The last 11 miles into town were my favorite and gave me a rush of joy of being able to ride the rolling hills on a double with a sore left knee.
Sandra with Cory.
The Monticello Court House in the center of town.
Notice how cheap the gas price is.
We run into Bubba at our hotel in Midway.
He's the guy who delivered my bags to the hotel and who danced
with me on Monday night.
Good dancer, great smelling, nice guy.
Sandra and I take a much-deserved nap and return to town later for a yummy dinner.
Day 7, a travel day in which we return to Sarasota via rain and traffic and a scenic detour just north
of Tampa.
Upon arrival, Sandra and I have dinner with my Grandparents at Ivo's, pick
up her bag from Becky's, her bike box from Adrian's and return to my place for some much needed R&R.
At 5:30am I drive Sandra to SRQ, return to bed and do a recovery ride with Yarnall and Gina.
As a bonus, we get to see the Sand Hill Cranes with their babies and my camera is still on vacation.
