Apalachicola will be the site of our layover day.
You can hang out in town and enjoy the shops,
eateries and a walking tour of the historic houses.
Combine all this with some of the finest
seafood in the country and you've got a great day!
Val and I take the bus option over to
St. George Island.
I begin the day with a 3 mile walk from my hotel.
Apalachicola Historic District
Many fine homes and buildings dating from the 1830's. A scenic walk of the town acquaints visitors
with sites such as the cotton warehouse, a sponge exchange and Victorian homes nestled among the
magnolias.
John Gorre; he who invented the Ice Machine.
The bridge that we couldn't ride over in yesterday's storm.
We will ride over it tomorrow.

The Apalachicola River.
St. George Island State Park
This nine mile long barrier island is one of three barrier Islands that separate Apalachicola Bay
from the Gulf of Mexico. Enjoy miles of undeveloped beaches, pristine shorelines, majestic dunes,
bay forests, sandy coves and salt marches.
These strange very skinny condos lined the beach front.
Flooding from last night's storm.
Val and a guy she owed a beer to after he pulled her yesterday.
He would be known as the beer
guy till the end of the trip.
Val and I dined with these two nice 'young' men.

St. George Island dunes.
For twenty bucks my bike gets detailed.
This is a really big bowl of banana cream pudding complete with vanilla wafers. Yum!
In case you are wondering where Sandra was in all of Day 4's pictures; she was riding of course. She chose to cycle over to St. George Island. Val and I saw her later at dinner.
Take me to Day 5.
