Myakka River State Park

Sunday October 26, 2008

Myakka River State Park is one of Florida's oldest and largest state parks.
The Myakka River flows through 57 square miles of wetlands, prairies and woodlands.

The brackish Myakka River.

We saw 14 alligators on our trip down the river.

Susan navigates through the marsh.

A vulture watches from his perch.

Lower Myakka Lake.
The current was with us on our way south, coming back was another story.

This photo was taken just before a big gator swam right underneath Susan's boat, and scared us all.
There were just too many gators in this lake to relax.

A great blue heron takes off just in front of us.
Can you see him?

I think this is Dick in the distance.

Jeff stretches his legs.

Civilization and a nice reflection.

Ah, the winding river.

Thanks, Susan for taking the time to take such a fine photo.

Nice light.

Dick and an awesome reflection.

I just love that afternoon light.

I think that these are egrets.

And he is a cormorant.

Nice texture.

Closer.

Close-up.

Jeff, shadow picture, good texture and the setting sun.

Another perfect outing.

If anyone wants 4x6 or 8x10 hi-res print outs of any of these photos, let me know,
and I will gladly give them to you.
