Midnight Pass was a naturally formed inlet, a "saltwater doorway" between the Gulf of Mexico and Sarasota Bay. It was artificially closed in December of 1983. There is a lot of controversy to dredge it open so that the tide can flow. Presently it is only accessible by boat which makes for a scenic private beach.
Chris and Ralph.
Gary and Barb.
We make it just in time as the sun begins to set.
Oooh, ah, oh.
Barb and Gary in nice light.
It's going to be a perfect sunset.
Don't forget to make a wish.
Its melting.
Going, going, going...

Our new friend who took the above photo, invited us to his bonfire.
Later, we would swim and play making for a very memorable evening indeed.
